When our son Adam died, his Newfoundland dog, Cleo, came to live with us.
This was the start of a new way of life for us. Whilst walking her, I soon found that I built up an entirely new social scene based in the various local parks and around the dogs that were walked there. In many cases I knew the dogs names but not that of their owner!
One day I was chatting to a chap with two springer spaniels. He noticed my smock and asked if I was an artist, when I mentioned my name, he said he had six of my marine paintings on his walls! He then asked if I did dogs so I showed him this pencil sketch I’d done of Cleo.
He commissioned me to paint his two spaniels as a surprise Christmas gift for his wife.
This painting led to many others.
